No – but we source all our wood from trusted local suppliers like The Tree on the Hill, who mill and kiln-dry on-site using sustainable practices.
Where does your timber come from?
Almost all our timber comes from Cumbria and the surrounding areas, using windblown or responsibly felled hardwoods.

Sustainability & Materials
Is your timber sustainably sourced?
Yes – our timber is locally sourced and responsibly managed.
Most of our wood comes from our friends at The Tree on the Hill – a small, passionate team working just a few miles away. They mill and kiln-dry windblown, dead or responsibly felled trees from the local area. They only stock British hardwoods – including oak, ash, elm, beech, sycamore, cherry and yew – and everything is cut and dried on-site.
Many of our smaller pieces such as coasters and bookmarks are made from offcuts from our larger commissions ensuring nothing goes to waste. We also source and re-purpose offcuts and reclaimed timbers from other wood working businesses in the local area, turning waste into something beautiful.
We only ever use FSC or PFEC certified plywood and MDF board from reputable suppliers with a traceable supply chain.
Do you use reclaimed timber?
Yes we can – where suitable, we can use reclaimed timbers such as beams and flooring to reduce waste, add character and capture the story of historic places in the items we make. We also use offcuts from other local wood working businesses and larger projects to make many of our smaller pieces such as bookmarks and coasters, ensuring nothing goes to waste.
Where are your products made?
All our products are made by us in our Cumbria workshop. Nothing is bought in or mass-produced. We do collaborate other local makers and artists on joint projects and commissions where specialist skills such as gilding, wood turning or illustration are required. Craft and quality is at the heart of everything we make.
Do you use plastic-free packaging?
We keep packaging simple and to a minimum, just paper, card, or natural fibers. We never purchase or use single use plastic packaging but we do collect packaging (that may include bubble wrap and foam) from deliveries we receive and reuse this where we can to help keep waste to a minimum.
Do you work with any local suppliers?
Yes – we try to work with local suppliers and other Cumbrian makers and businesses wherever we can. We work with The Tree on the Hill, a brilliant local timber supplier who mills and dries all their own stock. We also work Jonathan Leech, an excellent artistic wood turner who makes beautiful bowls from sustainable timber, the fantastic creative agency Plain Creative, and Reeds printers.
Can I request FSC-certified wood?
Yes – we can source FSC-certified timber on request for larger projects.
